Collection includes manuscript materials for 48 children's books plus some titles to be used by teachers. The books were issued under her given name and under her pseudonym, Tamara Kitt. The manuscripts appear in several states, from holograph through typescripts and proofs. Collection also includes several unpublished manuscripts, a substantial correspondence collection, materials reflecting the author's involvement with reading, theater, and promotional programs, and a small amount of material for the Brownie Handbook (GSA). Material is arranged by title with folder level control.

Beatrice Schenk de Regniers was born in Lafayette, Indiana on August 16, 1914, and died March 1, 2000. She studied social work administration at the U of Chicago and earned her M.Ed in 1941 from Winnetka Graduate Teacher's College. After doing social work for several years she was sent to the Sinai Peninsula to a Yugoslav refugee camp, constructing a kindergarten and teaching American folk dances to the children.
